PRESS RELEASE GLOBALIVE COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC ACQUISITION OF CANADA PAYPHONE

(Toronto, ON) - Globalive Communications, a leading provider of telecommunications solutions to niche markets, announced today that effective September 30, 2004, it completed the acquisition of Canada Payphone Corporation, Canada’s leading competitive payphone service provider (TSX Venture: CPY).
"This acquisition has enabled Globalive to further establish its strong leadership position in the telecommunications market”, said Anthony Lacavera, President and CEO of Globalive Communications.
Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, Canada Payphone Corporation (CPC) becomes a wholly- owned subsidiary of Globalive. For Canada Payphone, Globalive will introduce new ways of increasing revenue per payphone, thereby increasing the commission to CPC customers. Globalive will provide better customer service and faster response time for trouble tickets. Maintenance of Canada Payphones will be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Canada Payphone customers are expected to see immediate benefits as a result of the acquisition, and can anticipate an enhanced and more efficient service.
